Tour Plan

Day 1: Pickup & Overnight Train to Khulna

Your unforgettable journey begins in Dhaka, where you’ll be greeted at your hotel or Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. After a warm welcome, you’ll be transferred to Kamalapur Railway Station to board the overnight train from Dhaka to Khulna, departing at 7:00 PM. Settle into your reserved air-conditioned sleeper berth, ideal for rest and comfort during your journey. As the train winds its way south, you'll pass through a scenic cross-section of rural Bangladesh—verdant rice fields, small village markets, and quiet rivers flashing past your window. The rhythmic movement of the train sets a tranquil pace for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Into the Wild – Khulna to Sundarbans by Boat

Arrive in Khulna at dawn (around 5:30 AM) and transfer directly to the Khulna Launch Ghat, where your Sundarbans private boat tour begins. Aboard a comfortable, fully equipped boat, enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast as you glide into the calm waters of the Sundarbans mangrove forest—the world’s largest tidal halophytic ecosystem. Your first stop is the Herbaria Mangrove Trail, a protected area rich in biodiversity and an ideal introduction to the forest. Enjoy a guided walk along the elevated wooden trails through dense mangroves, where you might spot mudskippers, red fiddler crabs, macaques, and bird species like kingfishers, herons, and black-capped bulbuls. After completing forest entry formalities and meeting your assigned armed forest guard, continue deeper into the Sundarbans. By mid-afternoon, reach Kachikhali, one of the most remote and undisturbed parts of the forest, often frequented by spotted deer, wild boars, and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. As the sun sets over the forest horizon, enjoy a warm dinner onboard. The tranquil sounds of nature—chirping insects, rustling leaves, and distant birdcalls—will lull you to sleep in your cozy cabin.

Day 3: Jungle Adventure – Kachikhali to Katka

Awake to the golden light of dawn and the calls of forest birds. After breakfast, set off on a slow cruise through narrow creeks toward Katka, another core zone and an iconic part of any Sundarban jungle safari package. Upon arrival at the Katka Forest Station, you’ll embark on a guided trek through tiger territory, offering a chance to observe animal tracks, listen for monkey calls, and possibly catch a glimpse of wildlife among the foliage. Next, visit the peaceful Katka Sea Beach, where you can stroll along the sandy shore, dip your feet in the Bay of Bengal, and enjoy panoramic views of the forest meeting the sea. Climb the Katka Watch Tower, offering unmatched aerial views of the mangrove forest canopy, rivers, and saltwater lagoons. This is an excellent location for birdwatching in the Sundarbans and photography—especially around sunrise or dusk, when animal activity peaks. In the afternoon, the boat sails east toward Karamjal, passing through calm waterways dotted with fishing boats and birdlife. Enjoy your evening on deck under a starry sky, listening to the gentle ripple of the tide.

Day 4: Wildlife Encounters & Return to Khulna

After a light breakfast, visit the Karamjal Wildlife Centre, a conservation-focused eco-destination featuring a crocodile breeding center, spotted deer sanctuary, and educational exhibits about forest ecology and protection efforts. This is a perfect spot to understand Sundarbans eco-tourism practices and how they support biodiversity and local communities. On your return cruise to Khulna, soak in the serenity of the Sundarbans one last time. Watch as fishermen cast their nets, monitor lizards sunbathe on riverbanks, and egrets glide over the water. Once back in Khulna, check into your hotel and enjoy a refreshing shower and dinner at a local restaurant. If time allows, you may take an evening stroll in Khulna city—a vibrant riverside town with markets, teashops, and local charm.

Day 5: Bagerhat Heritage Exploration

Today, delve into the rich Islamic heritage of Bangladesh with a full-day excursion to Bagerhat, just an hour’s drive from Khulna. This ancient city is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its medieval architecture, domed mosques, and serene surroundings. Begin your Bagerhat tour at the Shait Gumbad Mosque (Sixty Dome Mosque)—an architectural masterpiece from the 15th century built by General Khan Jahan Ali. Its massive brick structure, 60 intricately designed domes, and terracotta ornamentation make it a highlight of Islamic architecture in South Asia. Then, visit the Tomb of Khan Jahan Ali, set beside the sacred crocodile pond Thakur Dighi, where locals still offer prayers. Continue your journey through history with stops at the Nine Domed Mosque, Chunakhola Mosque, Ronvijoypur Mosque, Singar Mosque, Dargah Mosque, and Bibi Begni Mosque—each telling a different chapter of Bagerhat’s spiritual and architectural legacy. End the day at the Bagerhat Museum, where you'll gain deeper insights into the region’s Islamic culture, construction techniques, and preserved artifacts. Return to Khulna for a farewell dinner and board your overnight train to Dhaka, reflecting on the unique blend of wilderness and heritage experienced over the past five days.

Day 6: Return to Civilization – Arrival in Dhaka

A trip of a lifetime.

Staying entrenched in the Mangroves with easy access from our boat to the channels and islands of the Subdarbans. We had many excursions on our flat bottom canoe -all of them brilliant..

Sundarbans Tour, great trip

Great experience to go through the larges mangrove forest by boat and stay overnight on the vessel on the rivers. Even though accommodation and facilities are very basic on board I really liked the trip. Mam Holidays was very helpful to arrange a day-time journey back to Dhaka. My guide, Mizan gave me a lot of valuable information during our stay in the Sundarbans..

5 day Sundarbans Tour

This was a magnificent tour, all that we wsihed for and more, although the tigers did not come to see us. From the moment we were met on the steamer in Dhaka to the end of the tour we were looked after in a friendly, professional way. The driver was good and managed traffic well. In Khulna we wandered round local shops with no hassle, feeling very safe. The smaller boat that took us round Sundarbans was great, a lovely atmosphere created by the captain who was excited when he showed us dolphins and a crocodile. The guides were knowledgable and knew where to find birds, deer and a tiger paw print. The boat staff kept the boat well, very clean, lovely food and staff were always aware of our needs. I would recommend this tour and Bangladesh as a fascinating, safe country to visit..
