Learn about the city’s history, culture, and key landmarks as you travel to your first stop. This ensures a smooth start and maximum comfort throughout the day.

Wat Si Saket – Laos’ Oldest Temple

Step into one of Vientiane’s most historically significant temples, Wat Si Saket. Built in the early 19th century, it survived invasions that destroyed many other sites. The temple features over 6,000 small Buddha statues, intricate murals, and a serene courtyard perfect for reflection. Learn about the blending of Thai and Lao architectural influences and the spiritual practices of local monks. Capture stunning photos of the temple’s multi-tiered roofs, peaceful gardens, and surrounding cityscape. Your guide shares fascinating stories about its historical significance, making this more than just a sightseeing stop. Walking through the temple corridors gives a deep understanding of Laos’ spiritual roots.

COPE Visitor Centre – The Story of Resilience

Next, visit the COPE Visitor Centre, a powerful and moving stop that highlights the impact of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Laos. Through interactive exhibits, real-life survivor stories, and multimedia presentations, you’ll gain insight into the challenges faced by locals and the ongoing humanitarian efforts. Learn how the center provides prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation programs, and education about safe practices. This visit adds a meaningful layer to your understanding of Laos’ history and its journey toward recovery. Your guide will explain the long-term effects of UXO on communities and the inspiring stories of resilience.

Ho Pra Keo (Haw Phra Kaew) – Royal Heritage Museum

Continue to Ho Pra Keo, the former royal temple that once housed the Emerald Buddha. Now a museum, it preserves priceless artifacts, ancient sculptures, and sacred objects that tell the story of Lao royalty and religious devotion. Marvel at its graceful Lao-style architecture, intricate carvings, and historic displays. Walk through the temple grounds and admire the peaceful gardens, perfect for photography and reflection. Your guide provides detailed explanations about the temple’s significance and its role in preserving Laos’ cultural heritage. The combination of history, art, and spirituality makes this stop a highlight of the tour.

Pha That Luang – The Golden Symbol of Laos

Visit Pha That Luang, Laos’ most sacred monument, covered in brilliant gold leaf. This stupa represents national unity and the country’s Buddhist faith. Walk around the grand courtyard, observe the intricate reliefs, and take in the spiritual ambiance that surrounds the site. Learn about its construction, symbolism, and restoration efforts after wartime destruction. Capture breathtaking photos of the golden spire against the sky. Feel the sense of reverence as your guide explains the historical and spiritual importance of this iconic structure. This landmark is central to Lao identity and a must-see for cultural enthusiasts.

Lunch Break – Taste of Laos

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Delight in a variety of local specialties prepared with fresh, regional ingredients.

Patuxai Monument – The Lao Triumph Arch

After lunch, head to Patuxai Monument, the triumphal arch dedicated to those who fought for Lao independence. Admire the unique blend of French and Lao architectural styles and climb to the viewing deck for sweeping panoramic views of Vientiane. Learn about the symbolism behind its design and the stories commemorated by the murals inside. Take memorable photos from multiple angles, capturing the monument and cityscape. Your guide will explain its historical context and significance, giving insight into the national pride associated with this landmark. Experience the grandeur of Vientiane from a new perspective.

Vat That Khao – Peaceful Reflection

Next, visit Vat That Khao, a quiet temple offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Overlooking lush surroundings, the temple provides space for meditation, photography, and reflection. Learn about local Buddhist practices and the daily routines of monks. Appreciate the elegant simplicity of the temple’s architecture and its serene ambiance. Great private tour! Worth the cost. Enjoyed the excursions.

Not much to see in Vientiane and this tour covers most of it. Buddha park was nice although very run down for only being ~75 years old. Lunch was wonderful and being included helped lower the overall experience cost...

Vientiane’s marvels

This private tour was well organized. The guide Chansay was competent and welcoming. The tour was flexible and could be adapted to the participant. Everything was worth seeing. The chauffeur was reliable and the bus comfortable. A walk on Friendship bridge #1 was interesting and appreciated, but could not cross to Thailand my visa being single entry only. This activity a must when visiting Vientiane!..

Great tour to start off your first time adventure to Laos

Really enjoyed this tour with our guide Mr. Chansay Nanthavong. Originally thought the full day would be too much but it was perfect. Also had lower expectations for the Buddha Park based on some reviews but I found it to be most interesting and I'm glad it was included. This tour really does hit the highlights of Vientiane and it is a good introduction to Laos and its culture since it was our second day in the country. Lunch was also delicious and you could try anything and everything you wanted. Mr. Chansay has good English and a wealth of knowledge about the history as well as the current culture. The price may seem high but it was actually a good value...
